speaking of google chrome, here are the extensions that i use each day

I bet you do wonder if I am using chrome extensions, I am! in fact, there are many that I use that can be beneficial to my daily online life...

here is a list of all the ones I use and after the list will tell you the pros and cons (but are not listed in order of use, value or anything just a list.. and are ones I can see while I'm on this browser)

  1. Volume Master
  2. Pinterest
  3. Readaloud
  4. AutoRefresh
  5. Control time on the interent
  6. Grammarly
  7. Aitorefresh for twitter
  8. Screenshot for Youtibe
  9. post to tumblr
  10. direct messenger for instagram
here's what each and every one of them do!

1. Volume Master allows you to lower or raise volume each browser tab...so that if a video is too quiet it will be able to raise the volume

2.Pinterest allows you to take pics you are looking at all over the web and save them to pinterest

3. readaloud is an extension that I can use to read me back a whole webpage, or website...however a con is that It defragments the page of twitter and never just reads what people says...

4.Autorefresh allows you to refresh any page you want...there is only a few speeds that many out there would want to use..

5."control time on the internet" is a timer to show how many minutes or hours you have been looking at certain pages or websites...

6. Gramarly is quite simple it just makes spelling errors go away

7. autorefresh for twitter  is an amazing extenion it allows you to instantly refresh any twitter pages without any trouble... but keep in mind you might accidently still be using "autorefrsh" like I mentioned above

8.screenshot for youtube is an extension for youtube that allows you to get a screenshot from a video without the srcolling bar or progress bar getting in the way...

9. post to tumblr alows me to post anyrhing on my Tumblr

10. direct messages for instagram allows me to see my messages and other stuff while on browser

hope these help

making chrome extensions easier to add to chrome...

but not without a few sightly snags to get there...

Go to themebeta.com and create a custom theme for chrome, (even works for WinVista chrome version) and once you are done, pack the file and download it to your computer somewhere...

one that's done, create a folder (of any name)  and a folder inside of it with special consideration to make the name with a special formula,  like this [2.1.0_1]  so use any number you like but it has to be the same each time and each folder you make of extensions doesn't necessarily have to always be a certain character set, like you may see in every other extensions folder it could be whatever you think of...

Think of the fact that each folder in C:->users->?->appdata->local........->chrome->default->Extensions that are default/fresh are all like miscued and look like someone just typed in a bunch of random letters... I kid you not that you "don't" have to keep the name of the folder format the same way!

 you could name the folder "moms petunia garden" and the subfolder contents inside would contain the theme files (usually a folder with images and a *.json file inside "moms petunia garden" as listed before), is a folder you must create that has some numbers instead of letters... I don't know (at this time if you don't use their regimented numbers system it may go to not work in chrome) {ill let you know}

to clarify it for you:

In the Extensions Folder part of the app data area of  the c drive, you would have the "moms petunia garden" folder, which if you wanted to could contain more than one theme that you create, so if there was no problem using just words for these folders then you could call each theme "summer and "winter" and whatever you call the theme  that you made at the website above...but if the lettering doesn't work... then try naming it "0.0.0_0" and each and every theme you make  in  the "moms petunia garden" folder would be named that way and then you can get on to the interesting part

*I'm using "moms petunia garden" as disambiguation to allow those to insert the name if whatever idea the themes they are making are about i.e "summer" "spring" "food"  "trucks" travel" etc...go have fun with creating these folders and ill let you know.

when you have several folders made or if you have made one and haven't been able to know what to do with zip/chrome file please listen up!!

If you got the file in downloads open it up and notice its just an image folder and a*.json file....move both the image file and the image folder as one inside the themes folders you created earlier for the ",oms pteumnia garden"  theme you are using...keep in mind you want to check images to see if you have copied it to the wrong one!!

from there go into chrome browser and open the extensions page "chrome://extensions/" and click on the developer mode and "load unpacked extension" and search for the folder and it should add the chrome theme!!

Done!!!

heres one i made from todays mikey mybryan video mar12/2020

So if you have this issue (Android Only) on fitbit recently

So if anyone notices that recently Fitbit has given out a new app update but has nowhere near the idea on how to find out this centrifugal idea of either having no notifications or all of them but you get this annoying notification won't let you remove or swipe it away (like when taking screenshots of the lock screen!!) and it's bothering you here are some ideas to help you through it. Sorry for the length!

Begin:

It seems that Fitbit wants to mentally mess with us, you can either turn off the weird notification /sync page notification that stays on each day while on the lock screen or you can keep the notifications and get rid of the "keep alive widget" as mentioned above but it looks like you can't do both, which, in turn, bothers me because it would be good to have that as a separate setting in the section...

Android Only

For those who want to have notifications on and but turn off "keep-alive" (which allows communications and does the background syncing, albeit without syncing any new info or syncing very often). please follow the next few answers...

1.load up your today screen inside Fitbit app

2.scroll down on the area where it says "today" like you were refreshing/syncing

3.tap onto the name of your Fitbit device (ie ionic, charge, etc)

4.and scroll down to the bottom and turn on "keep alive widget"

5.ta -da! you've done it

but if you want to keep the "keep-alive" app off but get notifications and set allow notifications

1. turn off the "keep-alive" switch/button/slider

2. exit the Fitbit app

3.and load the settings app inside the phone (android)

3a.if you can't find the settings app, just look for a folder named apps on one of your pages

3b.tap the apps folder

3c.find the settings icon and tap on it

4.open apps and scroll down to find Fitbit

5.tap on "Fitbit"

6.scroll down to "app settings"

7.look for "notifications"

8.tap "notifications"

9.slide "on" the "allow notifications"

10. Voila!!

Keep in mind you cant have both set up at the same time...

I hope this helps and Keep Fit!

Year End Review

So it comes time to look back at the year that was 2019!!

January
-spent NYE and NYD at home and by the tv.

February
-nothing big

March
-snow began to melt

April
-spent my bday at home

May
-sun coming back and starting to roll and cut grass

June
-21/22 1st trip to a new cottage that my sister's boyfriend's family had rented from June to thanksgiving... I fell in the lake/river and will tell you the story below

July
-3 fishing trip to port bruce
12-14 helped set up and takedown for canterbury folk festival in Ingersoll Ontario0
20th or so we drive up to the cottage to visit for a night or two

August
-nothing big

September
-same old same old

October
-we drive up to the cottage to stay and try to pick up the kayaks, we have the holders but no straps so we plan to come back again after a few weeks

November
-In November I and my sister went back to the cottage to try to retrieve the kayaks, it was clear weather going up but not very clear coming down...

--------------------------

So during the trip back to the cottage in June, we brought up some kayaks that my dad bought a few years ago!!

During the time after we arrived at the cottage, we sat out on the deck and drank some beer, where we also went and offloaded the kayaks, we also put them in the lake. We toured the area which I hadn't been to ever but my sister had been to a few times. On coming back to the cottage I was about to wave at a boater who was fishing and watching us at the same time and flipped over (was not wearing any dry suits or anything) and managed to float to the surface and find my sister wondering what happened to me.  We decided to float (with me holding the kayak I was in and my sister towing me) to a nearby dock and I was gonna get out and get right back into the kayak and we kayaked back to the cottage. When we came up onto shore I started wondering bout my wallet and phone but then it hit me, "OMFG am I so lucky!!, I left my phone and wallet in the cabin before I left for the kayak trip lol!!"

Later that night I was trying to dry my pants and shirt and sweater (which I was wearing at the time of the flip) and I couldn't get them any dryer so we waited till next day and dried them on the porch ledge, and left them for a few hours before we left later that same day!!

-------------------

That was the most interesting story I can leave you with

Another way to get more YouTube subscribers!!

Taken from my forum (link on the sidebar) and edited to be directed in other ways!!

-------------------------------------------------------

I'm going to be fair here about some ways to get more followers. When I started youtube I thought id have no followers and no one would like me at all. but that changes every time I see that I have a new subscriber.

The one way I've been getting subs is sort of easy and hard at the same time, it is "pushing my channel" and in its own words "trying to get it out there to the masses" to people who may not know about it. One way I've been going about it is when I go on TeamSpeak or facebook is ill talk ab it about a video I'm posting and then when people watch it, they have the subscriber button there to hit if they are logged in but not all will see the video and it depends on the location of the video and or the youtube channel link so you may have to do some of that on facebook or twitter or you're website or wherever you feel comfortable. I'm a member at discord and I find if there is tons of people that come and chat and I'm able to talk to people I sub to and ask them nicely to sub back to me. that's what is getting me to 65 or whatever...

So it doesn't matter where you go to push/network/showcase your youtube channel just do it and do it well, I have my youtube channel linked on some other forums and people can see the link and click on the video, but what I'm gonna say next is gonna worry you or get you anxious...we as YouTubers never know if our vids or channels are gonna get subbed to, it all comes down to if they like what they see and want to see more or if they see something that offends them, think back to when you search for vids or channels to sub, what's your thought of if you want to sub to them? huh...its usually you like that video and like the channel that gets you to subscribe to them right? that's right...

Being on a forum or group on FB or Reddit, has its great pleasures as you can just tell people about your youtube channel (which you've done) and get those vids to people who want to see them and push the channel to other members but you can't just figure that only this place will get all your subs from here..you can post your vids and channel link here as much as possible, but you can't just think this place will be where my subs come from. you have to get out there and showcase your youtube channel to everyone, maybe if your a member of another forum, but that link to the channel in the signature or something...so ya you are welcome to post links of youtube on those groups as much as possible (the more the better) but you cant think all your subscribers are gonna see it at those places...reason is not everyone in the world knows that those individual groups or subreddits unless they are well known are going to take a while for everyone to know they exist, so they have to find those placed first...so I'm not saying you can't post links on those platforms, you just can't say "I'm only posting it on those platforms" and never post it elsewhere to get more subs or views...

For me when I do this I go to other forums and showcase it or post a link to a video or something so that most can see it and if they want to subscribe to me they can...and in discord I do this as well...a much as possible and you know what happens after a while someone mentions it to their friend and their friend mentions it to their friend and so on and so on. if you really work it, it shouldn't be hard for you to get subs but for the first 1000 it's going to be hard because I haven't made it to the 100 or 1000 mark yet...but I push /showcase it all over the place... it's getting better but its a slow pace. it is really important to do this as it's "like getting a job, like when you call several times to see if they have looked at your resume" but calling too much is a hindrance to getting that job you want!!

Another note about subs is content, you've got to please your fans/subs as much as possible and try to do what they want as much as possible and thank them for that. and make sure to note that they want more of that...if they are good subs they will ask nicely and be ok if you can't do that right now or won't do it, the worst ones are the one that threatens you and wants you to do it now and those you must keep away from...block the comments if you can...

You can also not go on what followers say or recommend maybe you can do a video about something you might want to get into and stuff right...don't forget to VLog (video blogging) telling us what you might be up to and don't tell us anything specific on where exactly this place you've been is or where you are going right now...etc...just watch out for that...

So keep up the good work and enjoy the rest of your youtube career...

the discrepancy for a previous u2 album

Ever since people started shouting at Apple and U2 in 2014 for what a flop it was on the side of the release not of the songs. But every once and a while another article gets posted on how bad and how much of an outcry it was. Everyone was parading in unhappiness that u2 released it wrong!!

I fear you not though, as I can help you understand what really happened and put this all to bed super quick!! In 2014 u2 was about to release the album "Songs of Innocence" and decided to partner with Apple. This transition allowed them to release the album at a certain time and for free for all apply music or Itunes pay users. Instead of saying "you can download this now, it's free" they decided to say it was "in everyone's phones" and which caused outrage as people thought the album was added to their apple music (btw It was Itunes until Apple Music came into play only about a year prior to this album being released.

The announcer for apple (after Mr. Jobs passed) announced they were going to release one of U2's upcoming albums and that's where the chaos began when really they had never been sent to everyone's phone it was just to be uploaded to the Apple Music Store for Free!!!

I thought that was amazing and songs that came out were very amazing, nothing like u2 had ever put out at all!!

I hope this helps you to understand the mishap!!

An interesting trip and other wired things...

things are the same as usual, and summer is amazeballs!!

took a trip to parry sound area back in June and loved it... I fell into the lake...

here's the story:

middle of June me and my sister (seen in background pic)travel up to a cottage, near lost channel Ontario. we're just here to drop off some kayaks, enjoy some summer sun. We drive 4.5 hours starting at 8:30am (while staying off major highways (401/400). We stopped at many places and had many washroom breaks and gas breaks too!!

We stopped at the CFB Borden Base, unlike most forces bases that are blocked by a gate and they won't let the general public in but this one is a dormant and only a ground-based force as the airport has closed for many years... We thought we'd go into the museum at the forces base, but it was closed on a Monday!! took some pics of the planes and helicopter outside the museum.

Hours passed and then we arrived and had seen that (and remembered as well)that parry sound had two airports, 1) parry sound municipal  2) the water one further into the town. We decided since it was open and not far to it so we went and viewed the location and then went in to get a coffee or something... Iand t had a burger and my sister had a coffee, (which unbeknownst to me I didn't know she was just coming in for a coffee and if I had known that I would have ordered just a drink!!).

Not much action at the airport, just a few planes and few people passing by!

After an hour or so we get back in the car and are only an hour or so away from this cottage, and we stop into parry sound for some supper supplies I go into Sobeys and Traci goes into the Canadian Tire, both of us getting stuff for supper and other supplies, I come out of Sobeys and am hoping my sister (Traci) will be ready to get back in the car but shes not in the car waiting (she has the keys!!)  and while I'm waiting in near 25+ *C weather I see my sister coming out and then talks to someone who has an SUV parked in a weird way and I go over to ask her whats this about and it was someone who drove over a piece of wood or something... we were able to get her some CAA tuck to help her get back to home...

When we saw that she was ok, we headed towards the cabin. An hour on the highways was nice, a good change of scenery. After we arrived at the cabin, we proceeded to unpack all the stuff we had and moved into the cabin. It was 5-6pm and we decided to sit on the (wobbly) deck and enjoy a beer. We tried to work out how to drink beer as we had these mosquito nets on our heads. I found if you lift it a few times you can fit your beer and not have to worry about the mosquitos!!

After hanging out and drinking a beer we thought it would be better to jump into the kayaks that were on the roof the last few hours. it was hard getting into them ourselves, but we got in them still having or mosquitos nets on. We paddle nearly 1/3 of the whole river/lake and then decide it's getting late and there might be a storm and we head back, on getting near the dock and getting out I went to wave at the boater who had cut his engines to do some trolling and I wanted to wave to him and turned to mush and that's where I fell in, with my jeans sweater and all the fixings. That's what I had on me, but I'm glad that I didn't have the cell phone or wallet as I may have lost those in the splash into the water. So we swam/kayaked to a nearby dock I got out and omg I was soaked to the bone!! What was I doing with jeans and a sweater on you ask? it was getting somewhat late in the afternoon just turning into the evening and I wanted to wear something warm and when we made the decision to go kayaking I never changed into anything else.

That night we had some pizza made from some dought we (earlier in the trip) were used to cool and chill some foodstuffs, it wasn't until later in the trip we realized it was pizza dough. Fast forward to the evening and we made some small pizzas out of what we had and spent time reading and chatting and listening to the radio. My clothes spent the night in the closet.

We wake up the next morning to head back to my home and eventually my sis would go back to her place. My clothes even in the night didn't get much drier so when I woke up I put them in the hot sun, it only took a few half hours to dry. When they dried we were on our way back home. We drove to parry sound which we found a place to park near the smelting wharf and found a trail which, in the years I've been in parry sound (10 years ago, and much much long ago) had never occurred to me a nice walking trail existed (its called fitness trail, runs from salt dock road, past the Waubuno park/beach, and past some cottages before heading to the more downtown part of Pary Sound. From there we walked to find a patio to watch planes and enjoy some food, we settled on a new establishment called the "Flight Deck Grill" and so we went to it and had some amazing food!! You are like 10 feet from the planes and able to relax and eat food!

After eating till the cows come home we headed out and on the highway, we only stop once and a while for gas and restrooms, etc. Within a few half hours, we are in sight of Barrie, where we normally turn off the highway south of Barrie and we have a back way to get home but there was a crash and the road we wanted off from 400 was closed, so we drove to 401, and then because she had to work the next day and couldn't get me back to my place o stayed at her place for the night, wherein the middle of the next day my dad picked me up and we went home...and I've been home ever since!!

End of story!

you can find some pics on my facebook

2018: Year in Review

ok so 2018 is very close to grinding to a halt, here are some small tidbits of what I did during the year that was 2018.

January: New Years Eve/Day

February:Winter and Nothing Big

March: In Hospital with Flu like symptoms

April: Ski trip to canmore and a visit with the bro./Snow Melts

May: Rolling grass and starting to cut, and hopped on reddit bandwaggon

June:biking alot

July: Canada Day/Biking rest of month

my friend visited me and a we stayed at my sisters house for 2-3 days.

volunteered at the folk festival in ingersoll for the 19th one they have ever had.

we lost survivor, we couldnt find him and our neighbor just so happened to have seen him running around their yard and late at night we found him again. He was limping and hurting but he seemed to heal pretty quick, most of the months ahead leading to a point where he regained composure to walk again and put pressure on his hind leg and go back to normal.

I happened to ask my neighbor on twitter and she said she had found him and i was so happy..to see him alive again was such a relef...heres my chat on twitter

"Darren: Hey Karen do you have an all brown cat over there.. we are missing survivor.....

Neighbor:Darren did u get my note? Doug saw survivor yesterday at our place late pm. He was limping.
Darren:We found him thanks for that
Neighbor:I am so glad! Is he ok?
Darren:Yes..still limping but will be ok I was so thinking we lost him for good

Neighbor: Oh good glad he is ok!!!!"

August: biking alot

September:still hot and able to bike

October:thanksgiving with traci;s friend's daughters and friend after they went camping up north. It was really warm and we were able to toss a frisbee despite it being so warm.

November:a sad month, we did the normal rememberence day ceremony and had lunch. A few weeks later survivor passed. It was a blow to the system that really hurt alot of us. I have a special mentions at the end of this.

trying biking in winter for first time, post a video on youtube about

December: so far in the 7 days weve had this month, nothing big has happened except for the passing of U.K (and i dont me the kingdom). U.K one morning had blood coming out of his mouth and we took him in and he seemed to be feeling better but as we left him in the vet he succumed to cancer the vet said and they had to put him/her down.been a tough year so far..

Special Mention

This year had been one of the toughest from the heart kind of year, where things just happen out of nowhere, like the passage of survivor. Survivor had a tough upbringing as instead of he was moved from his family and never seen them again and they still live, no. Survivor was born when all of his family perished and were hanging from the rafters. He lived a life and survived a heck of alot of run ins among other things. I was not looking forward to him passing at all though i knew he had to be close to 10 years or more.

Then in U.K's case he had been around for many years and had been more of a tomcat than anything. He lived a happy life and kinda misses cruiser since he/she left/vanished a few years ago. He still had his claws front and rear and had only had a few clippings in his life. He was named u.k because my brother was living there at one point and also because its kind of an ugly cat. I dont see that resemblance and wasnt the one to start calling or naming that..

Yoda still lives and is the last of the mohicans to say the least. There once was four original cats that came to this place near 2007-2008 and that was yoda, survivor,uk and cruiser, and now she lives alone in this house truly missing  her freind survivor.

 Rest in Peace

An update on life in Ontario

How has life been the last few months, it's been ok.

Been reminiscing of Banff and that girl again. I know it sounds stupid when I cry over her but it isn't that I love or need here in any loving way..I'm just a little sad/mad that we aren't friends anymore and we can't talk to each other anymore. It's tough, but I'm getting through it one  step at a time.  I am not crying as hard as I once was but I'm still sad we aren't friends going through good and bad times.

Anyways you're welcome for the update..

were into 2017 by a bit

i am so sorry to have left you in the dust my 2-3 followers that i have. I havent been that busy i just have other ways to blog such as tumblr which makes me wonder how the heck i have been able to stay here and makes me think i should leave this blog because i have more blog followers there than i do here. Im still thinking there are lots of viewers here but maybe more there? i really dont want to move this blog or close it.

I started this blog back in 2004 or so. I left it unused and then in 2006 found a real name for it and called it livinginbanffnow.blogspot.com and used it as an active daily dose to talk about the town and then when i decided to move home id call it living in ontario now and its been like that since 2008 or so.

I dont think i am gonna close down my blog (this one most likely) ill just add that you can see more up to date blogs on tumblr. I think its darrenvox.tumblr.com and its got some great posts there and i stated that in the last half of 2015 or start of 2016 and i hoped to blog as much as possible

thanks for viewing this blog over the years, even if you followed. And what i miss so much about the blogging thing is the MEME's like the 20 things that are in youre room or where are you? and stuff

anyways ill talk to you all later

12/02/2016

why the long time?

it seems as if my living in ontario blog needs some updates. I am so sorry i haven't updated  lately, its either because im busy or not busy and i havent had alot of time or have forgotten.

Whats new you ask? not much. Im keeping busy and enjoying the end of the year,  as we inch ckoser to the last day of the year. This year isnt gonna be the best for me, i lost my mother 9 months ago. Sure my days are better and happier but any thoughts or her or when i think of times when mom was there i cry.

What i just said isnt new or big, that happens to everyone whos lost someone, wether through an accident or a heart attack etc. Its all matters of the heart that when someone dies, sure you will cry and sure you will have good days after and the thing is youull never stop thinking of him/her in a sense like you and someone else over a loved one dying.

There are times though that catch me off guard, when i see a pic on a computer screen that shows mom and i doing something like hearing the news that i was gonna graduate, a few years ago, still makes me cry, thats not new, we all do. We just dont cry whole heartedly like we did the moment i heard the news.

So that in conclusion is whats going on here in ontario, theres no snow here yet and i dont know when it will come, last year it was 12 degrees and warm and we bbqd from the front deck as we listened to christmas songs, still then mom was with us that time!!

anyways theres an update for this blog

sorry no updates...

i've been busy on other thugs and totally forgot about the blog and thought id update you all on whats been going on!!

After my mom passed (i hope you have all heard that my mom passed away by now) and its been hard but not that hard.. i just had one of those days where it hits you again. I was on dads computer beacause i was flying on my computer...and while chatting on my tablet to someone i looked up and saw a photo of mom on some beach and i teared up...i still beilive that any day after someone dies its very sad but nearly 2 months into  it, ive moved on but still have here in my thoughts once and a while...they'll never go away, but that's a good thing!!

Doing lots of grass cutting here and there, there are areas i cant get to because of mud and the old deck sitting there since last september or so... but i start now with the sold soccer field then move to the orchard and i then go do front yard and then i move to gangway and then im pretty well done. im noticing how the new cutter  has such a wide berth to it compared to the orange and white mower we had. Those cutters were small and took a loger cutting time but this one is huge i inly need like 3 or 4 swaths to cut the soccerfiled etc!! (except for the orchard)

As of this moment im flying for delta in A319 from MTPP to KATL #FS2004

i havent updated where i have been on my flightsim blog so im going to that one shortly..
